Honouring our leading lights of wisdom on Teachers’ Day

Respect and love to our leading lights of wisdom…!

Teachers day was observed at The Oxford School with a special program to recognize the great contributions of teachers. Oxfordians honoured their beloved teachers with a ponnada at a special event conducted on that day as a token of their respect and love towards them.

Its during the 19th century that the idea of celebrating Teachers’ Day took root in many countries. It was a local educator or an important milestone in education that was honoured or celebrated at that time. Unlike many other International days, countries celebrate this day on different dates. In India, the birthday of our second president Dr. S Radhakrishnan is celebrated as Teacher’s Day, on 5th September, since 1962. Also, Guru Purnima is traditionally observed as a day to venerate teachers.
