Oxfordians Celebrate World Ocean Day

Ocean is more ancient than the mountains, and freighted with the memories and the dreams of Time.” – H. P. Lovecraft.

Every year on 8 June, World Oceans Day is celebrated to remind everyone of the major role the oceans have in our everyday life. In fact, ocean is intimately tied to our health. Its a surprising revelation that organisms discovered at extreme depths are used to speed up the detection of COVID-19! Bacteria, found in the depths of the ocean, are used to carry out rapid testing to detect the presence of COVID-19.
Its importance can’t be listed in one page as oceans serve as the world’s largest source of protein, with more than 3 billion people depending on the oceans as their primary source of protein and the marine and coastal biodiversity for their livelihoods.
Keeping this in mind Oxfordians celebrated World Ocean Day with great zest! Take a look…!
